THIS PROJECT IS A GESTURE OF AFFECTION TOWARDS RIO DE JANEIRO IN ALL ITS EXTREMES. FOCUSING TANGENTIALLY ON THE "PACIFICATION" OF THE FAVELAS OF RIO, THE PROJECT IS A DOCUMENT OF THE MARVELOUS CITY DURING THE WORLD CUP, THE OLYMPIC GAMES, THE POPE´S VISIT AND THE MASSIVE PROTESTS IN 2013.
WHILE THE WORK DOCUMENTS A FUNDAMENTAL PERIOD IN BRAZILIAN HISTORY, THE PROJECT IS BOTH PERSONAL AND INTIMATE.

THE AUTHOR
Rafael Fabrés (Madrid,1982), is an independent photographer and filmmaker specializing in documentary storytelling.
Between 2008 and 2018, he was based in Latin and Central America working as a photojournalist, focused on long-term projects for leading international publications, non-profit and corporate clients.
His photographs have appeared in publications such as TIME, The New York Times, Der Spiegel, El Pais Semanal, Paris Match, Le Monde, L´Express, De Volkskrant and Gatopardo.
His work has been exhibited in the United States, France, Italy, Mexico, Brazil and Spain. CV.
His interests now lie in multidisciplinary and collaborative projects both documentary and corporate through CAMINITO FILMS, the storytelling driven Production Company he founded in 2018.
In 2020, Rafael published his first monograph of photography, CAFUNÉ.
